Visiting the Khasab Fort is one of the best ways tourists can get a glimpse of how Oman looked like before it was globalised. The Khasab fort was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese. The fort now houses one of the best museums in Oman and gives visitors a fantastic glimpse of how the Omanis used to live in the 17th century. The main attraction of the fort is the actual boats from ancient Musandam that are exhibited.

The fort has been segregated into the museum and the housing exhibition. The museum houses artefacts that portray the history of Musandam. The housing exhibition recreates a well-furnished house that was part of the fort and visitors can see clothes, decor and other items that were reserved to take the visitor back to the 17th century.
